An excellent meeting in keeping with the New "Marples" Format! Our guest speaker, Snr Rosello (from CAM Bank, International Javea), ably explained the special low cost loans currently available to Autonomo based businesses. He also talked generally about the differences between Spanish Banking mechanisms and other European systems and the recently announced increased profits from several national banks including CAM served to emphasise the differences. Members and Guests gave updates on their news and new projects and after a local and Spanish news Round up, a general discussion ensued on the opportunities to small businesses that the current economic climate offers.

As this was the first full meeting of the club, there was no formal speaker. All members were given an opportunity to speak and to help decide the subjects we would be discussing for the next few sessions

Launch Event 10th January 2008
The Business Club opened, officially, on the 10th January with an Art Exhibition, numerous guests from the local Business Community and two guest speakers, who were kind enough to launch the club with two challenging speeches.
The first speaker, Councillor Amanda Dean, set out some of Nueva Jávea's vision of the future and how integral co-operation with (and between) all local businesses of all nationalities will be, in Marina Alta, to make that vision a reality. A copy of the core text of her speech is available as a download in Word.
The second Speaker. Mr Toby Carpenter, representing The Royal Society of St George, gave a direct challenge to the artistic members in the audience and the local community, by revealing the start of their Art Competition, Details of which will shortly be appearing on this website. The competition which will be judged by the Artist David Shepherd in April, has two main themes - "Endangered Species" or "St George".
As Club Manager. Gaile Griffin Peers, welcomed both Speakers and opened the Club, stressing that as a none political body the club welcomed represntatives from any of the local political parties in the Marina Alta Area who wished to address the local businesses in the Club on business related issues.
After the toast, members and guests mingled to network, exchange business information and enjoy the Art Exhibition
