12th June 2008 MARINA ALTA BUSINESS CLUB GAINS GLOBAL RECOGNITION!
The International Council for Small Business (ICSB) has chosen Gaile Griffin Peers and Marina Alta Business Club as the feature for their Member Spotlight on their new website www.icsb.org (http://www.icsb.org/mem_spotlight.asp)
Club manager Gaile said "It is a huge honour and a great compliment to us and to Spain, that has so few members to represent it in the ICSB, that we have been chosen for this feature. It emphasises the importance that experts and academics, who work in the field of Small Business Support, place on the value of Business Networking towards the survival and growth of Small Businesses."
When asked if she felt if maybe
Marina Alta Business Club was different and that might be why she and the
club had been picked she replied, "When
I was a teenager, my last ever school report included the following comment
from one of my A Level tutors: 'Gaile is ALWAYS original and sometimes right'.
It stuck in my mind because he knew me really well, but it was a funny thing
to say about Mathematics... but if he was right about me - then maybe this
is just one of those times that I have been lucky enough to get it right -
I certainly hope so, but at least I hope it will encourage the businesses in
the Marina Alta Area that what we do, can be seen everywhere! It might even
encourage local businesses who haven't aleady, to come and see the club for
themselves"

MARINA ALTA BUSINESS CLUB OPEN FOR BUSINESS!
Marina Alta Business Club launched in style on Thursday evening with two prestigious speakers from the local community and a colourful Art Exhibition showing the work of many local artists. The first Speaker Councillor Amanda Dean set out some of Nueva Jávea's vision of the future and how integral co-operation with (and between) all local businesses of all nationalities will be, in Marina Alta, to make that vision a reality. A copy of the core text of her speech is available as a download in Word. The second Speaker. Mr Toby Carpenter, representing The Royal Society of St George, gave a direct challenge to the artistic members in the audience and the local community, by revealing the start of their Art Competition, Details of which will shortly be appearing on this website. The competition which will be judged by the Artist David Shepherd in April, has two main themes - "Endangered Species" or "St George". As Club Manager. Gaile Griffin Peers, welcomed both Speakers and opened the Club, stressing that as a none political body the club welcomed representatives from any of the political parties in the Marina Alta Area who wish to address the local businesses in the Club on business related issues. There was a hint that she might also be entering the art competition! After the toast, members and guests mingled to network, exchange business information and enjoy the Art Exhibition. A virtual gallery, featuring photos of the exhibits from the event on the 10th, complete with artist contact details, will be put on www.mabusinessclub.com on the weekend of the 12th/13th January and will be available on the site until late-April.
Any businesses wishing to attend the next Marina Alta Business Club meeting
at 7pm, on the 24th January at the Inn on the Green is welcome to contact the
Club Manager on 96 646 1913 or manager@mabc.biz

Despite the roadblock, that closed the road from Javea, the Inn on the Green
Pre-Launch Meeting went remarkably well, with over twenty attendees from
the local community. We received some excellent input from local businesses,
about what they would like to see the Business Club accomplish. Our thanks
to all those who attended this event and to those who tried to come, but
who were deterred by the unexpected roadblock. We would particularly like
to thank Rebecca Taylor from The Bowling Green SL who ran the bar, making
sure that the evening went smoothly!
16th October 2007
In deference to the huge and devastating impact on local businesses caused
by the recent flooding in the Marina Alta Area, we are postponing our Official
Launch Ceremony and accompanying Local Art Exhibition until 7pm on Thursday,
January 10th 2008. This event is open to all local businesses, consultants
and sole traders. Please see our Events page for more information
