Peri Pera
The Business Club's new venue in Javea Port is Peri Pera Café near the Dolphin Roundabout. "Tracy and Guiseppe have made us all feel extremely welcome - and Peri Pera lends itself very well to the meetings as it creates a smart but friendly atmosphere", said Gaile, The Business Club Manager, speaking of the Club's recent decision to move from the Arenal to the Port.

Antiques and Business
Ever eager to explore more marketing and business opportunities for our members - Marina Alta Business Club has decided to take the novel step of taking a unit in the new Antiques Centre in Gata, run by Coastal Trading.
Gaile Griffin Peers, the manager of Marina Alta Business Club, commented that several members were interested in Antiques and Collecting - but, individually, they might not have enough items to keep a unit in an Antique Centre supplied with fresh stock - by taking the unit for the club, it allowed members with only one or two antique or collectible items, the opportunity to put them up for sale in this exciting new centre. Johan keeps the centre open every day of the week - so our items are being sold for us, whether we are there or not... and as we are very busy with our day jobs - this is a real opportunity for our members to dabble in an expanding business sector, without the normal personal investment of time and resources.

Free Marketing!
An Exclusive offer from The Grapevine Magazine and Marina Alta Business Club to all local businesses and advertisers. If you are in business in the Marina Alta Region in Spain – we have a very special offer for you, exclusive to the Jávea Grapevine and the New Calpe Grapevine… Working with Marina Alta Business Club we have managed to secure you a FREE web page – for your business – designed and maintained by Gaile Griffin Peers, the manager of Marina Alta Business Club – COMPLETELY FREE.
MARINA ALTA BUSINESS COMMUNITY can be found at www.marina-abc.com
“We are very, very worried about the effects that the recession is having on small businesses in Spain” said Gaile Griffin Peers of Marina Alta Business Club, “and we feel it is our responsibility to help where we can.”
As an active business club, representing the interests of small businesses in the Jávea area, Marina Alta Business Club has established a variety of membership benefits that are helping the Club and its core businesses to grow – but Gaile doesn’t think that is enough, with the troubles facing businesses here. The idea of the free web space offer for ALL businesses came about as part of an internal general improvement of the club’s membership benefits. Gaile has been developing web packages that give existing and new members the opportunity to develop large and complex websites. “Current members and new businesses joining the club before the end of June are getting 200Mb worth of web space as part of their membership – they can use it for what ever they wish (providing it is legal) - for business, web shops, blogging, guest-books, leisure, family, friends – whatever they want. All the tools are in the package – and there are a great number of website developers around who can develop the space for you if you need it, but are worried about how to do it yourself.”
The member’s main web pages are still put together by the club manager… so why is Marina Alta Business Club prepared to GIVE AWAY INTERNET PAGES TO NON-MEMBERS FOR FREE?
“We are very aware that internet business success is built around the number of safe links going to and from your website. So the more pages that we can all link to and from, the higher the profile all our users (members and non-members) will have on search engines. This increased prominence will help drive business to us all.
“ No business can survive in a recession, if it is isolated – this is “Bringing Business Together” in a way that benefits everyone.”
When we asked what businesses would have to do to take up this FREE offer, Gaile Griffin Peers said
“It is open to ANY business prepared to offer a small discount to our members – we are asking nothing else in return AND we will do all the work putting up the page and providing the web-space.”
"This type of practical business co-operation is what will help us all to survive until the economy starts to pick up, so we are delighted to be working with The Grapevine on this project”.

From our 25th September meeting Marina Alta Business Club is moving to Marples Coffee Bar in Javea's Arenal. A special event is planned for the 2nd of October to celebrate the move with local businesses. If you are interested in attending, please contact the Club Manager on 96 646 1913 or email manager@mabc.biz. Normal meetings will be held at Marples 7pm to 9:30pm on second and fourth Thursdays from 23rd October.
12th June 2008 MARINA ALTA BUSINESS CLUB GAINS GLOBAL RECOGNITION!
The International Council for Small Business (ICSB) has chosen Gaile Griffin Peers and Marina Alta Business Club as the feature for their Member Spotlight on their new website www.icsb.org (http://www.icsb.org/mem_spotlight.asp)
Club manager Gaile said "It is a huge honour and a great compliment to us and to Spain, that has so few members to represent it in the ICSB, that we have been chosen for this feature. It emphasises the importance that experts and academics, who work in the field of Small Business Support, place on the value of Business Networking towards the survival and growth of Small Businesses."
When asked if she felt if maybe Marina Alta Business Club was different and that might be why she and the club had been picked she replied, "When I was a teenager, my last ever school report included the following comment from one of my A Level tutors: 'Gaile is ALWAYS original and sometimes right'. It stuck in my mind because he knew me really well, but it was a funny thing to say about Mathematics... but if he was right about me - then maybe this is just one of those times that I have been lucky enough to get it right - I certainly hope so, but at least I hope it will encourage the businesses in the Marina Alta Area that what we do, can be seen everywhere! It might even encourage local businesses who haven't aleady, to come and see the club for themselves"

MARINA ALTA BUSINESS CLUB OPEN FOR BUSINESS!
Marina Alta Business Club launched in style on Thursday evening with two prestigious speakers from the local community and a colourful Art Exhibition showing the work of many local artists. The first Speaker Councillor Amanda Dean set out some of Nueva Jávea's vision of the future and how integral co-operation with (and between) all local businesses of all nationalities will be, in Marina Alta, to make that vision a reality. A copy of the core text of her speech is available as a download in Word. The second Speaker. Mr Toby Carpenter, representing The Royal Society of St George, gave a direct challenge to the artistic members in the audience and the local community, by revealing the start of their Art Competition, Details of which will shortly be appearing on this website. The competition which will be judged by the Artist David Shepherd in April, has two main themes - "Endangered Species" or "St George". As Club Manager. Gaile Griffin Peers, welcomed both Speakers and opened the Club, stressing that as a none political body the club welcomed representatives from any of the political parties in the Marina Alta Area who wish to address the local businesses in the Club on business related issues. There was a hint that she might also be entering the art competition! After the toast, members and guests mingled to network, exchange business information and enjoy the Art Exhibition. A virtual gallery, featuring photos of the exhibits from the event on the 10th, complete with artist contact details, will be put on www.mabusinessclub.com on the weekend of the 12th/13th January and will be available on the site until late-April.
Any businesses wishing to attend the next Marina Alta Business Club meeting
at 7pm, on the 24th January at the Inn on the Green is welcome to contact the
Club Manager on 96 646 1913 or manager@mabc.biz

Marina Alta Business Club is delighted to announce the details for the Art Exhibition that will accompany the Club Launch on January 10th. We are expecting a hundred people for the Launch Ceremony (7pm at the Inn on the Green). So to make sure that everyone has a chance to see the exhibits properly, The Exhibition will be open from 10.30am and will run throughout the day at the Inn on the Green until the end of the Business Networking Meeting at 9pm. Initial Details for the Art Exhibition are available on the current event flyer. All those attending the Launch Ceremony in the evening, will have an opportunity to see the Exhibition whilst they are networking. All local businesses are cordially invited to the Marina Alta Business Club
Launch at 7pm, 10th January at the Inn on the Green, to help us Launch the
Club in style - there will be a welcoming drink, so we do hope we will see
you there. This event is free to businesses. You don't have to book in advance
but, if you do let us know before the 4th of January that you are coming, we
can publicise your business on our attendee list at the meeting. That way everyone
who comes will know you are present and will know how to contact you later,
if you are too busy for them to catch you at the meeting... and, with a hundred
other attendees to network with, you may well be!
18th November 2007
Despite the roadblock, that closed the road from Javea, the Inn on the Green
Pre-Launch Meeting went remarkably well, with over twenty attendees from
the local community. We received some excellent input from local businesses,
about what they would like to see the Business Club accomplish. Our thanks
to all those who attended this event and to those who tried to come, but
who were deterred by the unexpected roadblock. We would particularly like
to thank Rebecca Taylor from The Bowling Green SL who ran the bar, making
sure that the evening went smoothly!
16th October 2007
In deference to the huge and devastating impact on local businesses caused
by the recent flooding in the Marina Alta Area, we are postponing our Official
Launch Ceremony and accompanying Local Art Exhibition until 7pm on Thursday,
January 10th 2008. This event is open to all local businesses, consultants
and sole traders. Please see our Events page for more information
